I’ve wanted to do a giveaway for a long time. But, being too cheap for pine nuts (translation: too poor) I’ve also been limited financially as to what I could offer for a giveaway. However, I’ve come up with something inexpensive but fun that I’m going to do. I just printed my first zine with the hope of starting to raise money for kitchen cupboards in my unfinished house. (If you don’t want to wait for the giveaway to end, you can buy one here right now!)

For my giveaway, I’m offering two people hand-coloured versions of my zine, along with a felt tree ornament. I don’t have pictures of the ornaments because I’m still in the process of making them, but I’ll update this post when I have them done.
All you need to do to enter is leave a comment telling me a favourite holiday memory.
I want do my best to get this to you by Christmas, so the window of opportunity is going to be pretty slim. I’ll leave comments open until Wednesday, the 18th, at noon PST, and announce the winners after I’ve randomly selected 2 names. I like your blog and I hope you get your kitchen cupboards! Hmmm, I think my favorite holiday memory happened not on Christmas, but just several weeks ago. I was spending my last couple of days of what had been a rather depressing 22 day stay in a battered womens shelter. There were a lot of children with there mothers there. Anyway, what makes it a good memory is that before I left, a Christmas tree was being put up, and some of the moms and kids were just *so excited* to help erect and decorate it. They really rose beyond their circumstances to come together for the sake of the memory of the holiday. Even though I left there with nothing but the clothes on my back, sitting in my very un-festive home right now, I am grateful to HAVE a home, and that there are people out there fighting for a really good holiday for underprivileged people. So if I draft to feel down, I know that on the 19 of this month, because I was lucky enough to take part in hamper program, some wonderful volunteers will be transporting a Christmas tree directly to my house so me and my daughter will have a tree, ornaments at all! And they are bringing presents for under the tree. Its not the material aspect of this I love, but the generosity and goodhearted people. It had made me realize that once im in a position to do so, I want to be a part of that and payback the kindness.

My favorite memory is getting so visit with family! I live far away from all of them now, so I defiantly miss those times.

My favorite holiday memory is making a whole bunch of holiday cookies on Christmas Eve. We watch corny Christmas movies like Mister Magoo and eat cookies.

My favourite holiday memory is making peppermint joejoe milkshakes and tots for breakfast and enjoying the day with my cat after a super busy season of craft shows and work.

I’ll never forget the Christmas that my aunt was married. I was 9 years old and the whole family went to Virginia to celebrate. It was a huge party and I’ll never forget the time I spent with all of them!

I always loved getting the Christmas tree and the lights, especially. Sometimes I’d sit/lay by the tree with the room dark and only the glow of the lights, and that felt very Christmasy to me.

Instead of hanging stockings up for St Nic, my brother and I would take out our school uniform loafers to clean and polish them. We’d leave them on the window sill over night and the next day, they’d be brimming with chocolates and clementines 🙂
